Robotic Surgery in Urology

Robotic surgery involves utilizing a robot (the DaVinci Surgical System) to assist the surgeon in completing challenging laparoscopic procedures. Primarily used in removing prostates for prostate cancer, the daVinci can also be used in kidney reconstruction, removing kidneys and removing diseased areas of kidneys. Although robotic surgery can also be used in other specialties including Gynecologic surgery, Cardiac surgery and General surgery, Urologic surgery continues to encompass the majority of robotic surgery. Dr. Bevan-Thomas has been doing robotic surgery since 2002 and has expertise in the field of robotics and urologic surgery.
