Urologist Arlington TX

Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas

If you’re having prostate or any other urologic issues and are ready to do something about them, Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas is the best choice you could make in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area.
Background. Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas grew up in a medical family. Both parents are committed physicians with deep compassion for their patients, which shaped Dr. B-T’s own healing philosophy.
Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas is determined to find a solution for every patient. He is a dedicated problem-solver who does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to medicine. Each patient is an individual, and Dr. B-T will not be satisfied until he’s found the best solution for your unique urologic problems.
Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas believes in a team approach to decision-making, and to do this, he needs an informed patient. Urologic conditions can be complicated, but Dr. B-T will explain in simple terms what you need to know about your diagnosis, treatment options, plan of care, and follow-up. It’s important to him that when you leave his office, you will understand your condition and your game plan. He wants you to have the knowledge you need to share in all decisions about your care.

Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas has advanced training in state-of-the-art technologies in his specialty areas, which include robotic surgery, prostate cancer, BPH/enlarged prostate, and renal and prostate cryoablation. He began performing robotic surgery immediately after graduating from MD Anderson in 2002. At that time, only a handful of surgeons had experience with surgical robotics. He has used that expertise in leading-edge technology to help thousands of patients evaluate and solve their most personal problems for the past 20 years.

Dr. B-T has worked as a consultant for Intuitive Surgical for the daVinci robot and continues to give feedback to the company for future development. He is a Center of Excellence provider of robotics in his group, Urology Partners of North Texas, one of the most preeminent urology groups in North Texas. He has also earned Center of Excellence status in Urolift technology in the field of BPH, or the enlarged prostate.

Dr. B-T continues to provide general urology care for his patients, as well, including treating kidney stones and vasectomies.

Whether your prostate issues are simple or complex, Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas has the training and expertise to provide advanced and innovative care options that can dramatically improve your quality of life.

Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas graduated from Duke University and earned his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and urologic surgery residency at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

After completing his residency, Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas joined East Bay Urology in San Ramon, California, where he eventually served as chief of surgery at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. While he was there, he specialized in minimally invasive procedures — laparoscopic and robotic surgery utilizing the da Vinci surgical system.

In 2007, Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas was invited to join Urology Associates of North Texas (UANT) and helped grow the practice into one of the largest robotic surgery programs in the country. This group subsequently became USMD.

In 2019, Dr. B-T and 18 of his partners left USMD and founded Urology Partners of North Texas (UPNT), a single-specialty urology group focused on providing streamlined and cost-effective urologic care.

Since then, he has worked as a consultant for Intuitive Surgical, assisting with education and video presentations. He is also an instructor for Endocare in prostate and kidney cryoablation.

Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas’ recognitions include the Pfizer Scholar in Urology and the Gerald G. Murphy Scholar in Urology in 2002.

He has been a proctor and instructor in the field of robotics since 2003 and continues to take an interest in patient and physician education.

Dr. B-T also works in educating other surgeons as a proctor in the field of cryosurgery with both prostate and kidney cryoablation.

He is currently a member of the American Urological Association, Texas Urologic Society, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and Tarrant County Medical Society.

Dr. Rich Bevan-Thomas lives with his wife, three children, and two dogs in the Dallas metroplex. He is a classically trained pianist who enjoys playing both classical and jazz on his grand piano. He has a black belt in multiple martial arts but now focuses solely on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a certified instructor for Gracie Barra.

Dr. B-T loves challenges and solving problems, both in and out of the operating room. Let him help you overcome your urology problems and get you back on track.
